Can't Touch This

I finally broke on Wednesday and gave Justin his birthday present early. I know. I know. I've already admitted that I'm horrible with surprises. I can't help it. I came up with two reasons that made me feel better about giving him his gifts a week and a half early. Reason 1: His birthday is Christmas day, and I think he deserves two separate occassions for gifts. I didn't want to be giving him his birthday present while he was giving me a Christmas gift. That just didn't seem fair. Reason 2: Because I'm so bad at surprises, I decided to give him a hint on Wednesday morning. Well, the first thing he guessed was right. I lied and said he was wrong, which was so obvious. I'm also a really bad liar. I knew I couldn't keep up my lie for very longer, therefore he must get his gift that night. Whew! That made me feel better. Now, onto the gift. I got him an Ipod Touch 4th Generation. Here's a hint, don't go trying to buy these so close to Christmas. They are out at a lot of places. Well, I got it (see photo below) and he loves it. Mission accomplished. I had a lot to live up to on the gift front after getting my Kindle for my birthday.
Here she he is in all her his beauty. I've decided that it will need to be male, because I'm already jealous of how much of his time it has been taking. I decided I didn't want him having another girl in his life. I like to be the only one, besides his mom of course.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

Tuesday Thoughts...

{Hello Everyone}

Here are some thoughts for the day…

1. I am getting so excited about Christmas. One of my favorite parts of the season is seeing everyone’s Christmas cards. I get so excited checking the mail every day just to see who has sent the latest card.
2. I had lunch with my sweet friend, Rachel, the other day and got to see her baby bump. This isn’t just any baby bump. It’s the absolute cutest, tiniest baby bump I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait to meet her little boy. I also can’t wait to throw her a shower. If you know Rachel, she’s the absolute sweetest person in the world, which makes it so fun to do things for her.
3. Justin’s birthday is Christmas Day, and I am having the hardest time waiting to give him his presents. I am so not good with a surprise, so we’ll see how it goes.
4. Still excited about the upcoming Gatorbowl for the Dawgs. Sorry, I know I mention it just about every post, but I’m excited.
5. Also hard not mention is baby Harris’s upcoming arrival. I just can’t wait to meet him and see his sweet little face.
6. This past weekend was our annual friend group Christmas party at Pippa’s house. I wish I’d gotten some pictures of her actual house, because it is gorgeous!! We had so much fun, and I’ll leave you with some pics below… Enjoy!

{This is what I got during Dirty Santa. Lindsey made it, and I'm in love!}

Happy Tuesday everyone!!

Currently - Copied from Claire

Claire, thanks for this great blog post idea! Here are some things I'm currently into...

1. Refinishing Furniture - Who knew this would be this fun!!! I absolutely love seeing the hidden potential in a piece of furniture!
2. Christmas Shopping - Ughh, I always wait until the last minute. I do love to shop for gifts, but I just hate the lines. Every year, it's like I think the lines will get better the closer you get to the big day. They don't get better, people! They get worse!!
3. My Kindle - I'm loving having this little companion with me all the time. It fits in my purse and always has entertainment ready for me!!
4. The Dawgs at a Bowl Game - What fan doesn't like when their team goes to a bowl game?? I'm so happy for them. They definitely deserve it after a season of playing hard.
5. The Band Perry - If you don't listen to them, you definitely should! That's all I can really say about it.

That's it for today. Happy Hump Day everyone!!!!

31-23

Just wanted to do a little post on how excited I am that the Bulldogs took the Egg Bowl this year, breaking the 10 year streak where only the home team wins. I've been so proud of the Dawgs this season, and it was great to see them finish up with a win. Next stop, Chik-Fil-A Bowl in Atlanta!!
Here are some pics of us during the game...
{Drea is a Rebel Landshark Blackbear fan, but I still love her!}

Tuesday Thoughts (Late) Thursday Thanks (Early)

Does the early thanks cancel out the late thoughts?? That is the question to ponder today!

First, here are my thoughts (Birthday Style!)...

1. Thursday night, we went to eat with my family and had so much. Myers was so funny talking to everyone and saying their names. He even tried to sign my card, which melted my heart.
2. Friday night, Justin gave me my birthday gift a little early. (I really have no patience.) I could not be happier with it. As I mentioned earlier, he bought me some tables for our house a few months ago, so I wasn't expecting too much. I ended up with this baby...
The Kindle 3G Wireless. I have not stopped playing with it since I got it. It really is the best gift ever!!!
3. Saturday morning, I got my hair cut and highlighted. Let me just tell you, this was much needed!! Saturday night, we went to eat at Ruth's Chris. If you have never been there, you must go. The food was AMAZING, and I ate way too much. They even brought me a cheesecake with a sparkler in it. After that, we went out with some friends. (See pictures below.) I cannot tell you how much fun I had.

with J Hunter at the Bulldog
4. Sunday (my actual birthday), we had a pretty low key day at Georgia Blue and Drew & Drea's house watching football. I have to mention that all the happy birthday wishes made me feel so loved that day. The icing on the cake (no pun intended) was when Myers called me and sang Happy Birthday. It was just the sweetest thing.
5. I had Monday off from work and was pretty lazy all day. Monday night, I went to Que Sera with some awesome friends and had an absolute blast. I got to spend time with some of my favorite people and got some pretty awesome gifts too! Since I don't have a picture from the night, I want to shout out to everyone who came to celebrate. Thank you to Heather, Paula, Jessica, Amanda, Allison, Lindsey, Meredith, Kayla, Jennifer, Lauren, Heather, Kelly and Lexie. And a special thank you goes out to Kristin for planning everything and picking me up. She's such a sweet friend and always makes a big deal out of birthdays! I love that about her.

Now on to Thursday Thanks...
Friday, November 19, 2010 - This day I was thankful for books. I love to read!! Getting my Kindle made me even more thankful for authors and their stories.
Saturday, November 20, 2010 - This day I was thankful for Justin. I may have used him before, but honestly I'm thankful for him a lot. He worked so hard to make my birthday really special, and I appreciate that so much. It was definitely my best and most memorable birthday yet.
Sunday, November 21, 2010 - I am so thankful for my parents, who on this day 21 27 years ago brought me into this world. Since then, they've done everything they could to make sure I had to the best life ever. I can't tell you how thankful I am for that.
Monday, November 22, 2010 - This day, I was so thankful for all of the people who came out to celebrate with me. I really felt loved by my friends and had so much fun with them!
Tuesday, November 23, 2010 - This day, I was thankful for my Ugg Boots. This may sound superficial, but I love those puppies. I love to come home at night and put them on with my pajamas to sit around and watch TV. Those babies are comfy, and I love comfy.
Wednesday, November 24, 2010 - Today I am thankful for our Executive Director, since she's letting us leave at 1 to go get ready for the holiday. Man, that feels great.
Thursday, November 25, 2010 - It doesn't even have to be tomorrow for me to know the list of things I will be thankful for tomorrow. That's right, I said list and it goes a little like this... turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, broccoli casserole, chicken and dumplings, pork loin, homemade rolls, green beans, fried okra, boiled okra, etc. I love a feast.

Happy Turkey Day Everyone!!!

Thursday Thanks (Late Again)

Sorry to be late again! Man, I've been appologizing on here a lot lately.

Friday, November 12, 2010 - This day I was simply thankful for good food. I can't even remember what I ate, but it must have been good because I wrote down that I was thankful for it.
Saturday, November 13, 2010 - On this day, Justin and I woke up really early to go to garage sales and the flea market. This made me thankful for caffeine. What would I do without coffee and diet coke??
Sunday, November 14, 2010 - This day I was thankful for power tools. I sanded a table, and it was no easy feat. I can't imagine what this would have been like without the electric sander.
Monday, November 15, 2010 - This day made me thankful for the tanning bed. I know it's going to make me wrinkled like a raisin, but I'm pasty.
Tuesday, November 16, 2010 - I'm thankful for tights to keep my legs warm in the summer. I'm way more of a dress and skirt girl than pants, so these help my clothes transition easier.
Wednesday, November 17, 2010 - This day I'm thankful for babies. So many of my friends are prego right now. Babies are such blessings, and I'm so glad that my friends are so blessed.
Thursday, November 18, 2010 - Yesterday I was thankful for lunches with friends. (I seem like all I do is eat!) I had lunch with my friend, Lauren, and it was so relaxing to just sit down with a good friend and eat good food!!

Now I'm off to my birthday weekend!!!

Love,
Jamie

Thursday Thanks... Late :(

Friday, November 5, 2010 - On this day, I was thankful for my mom. She really does her best to try to make all three of us happy, and I appreciate that.
Saturday, November 6, 2010 - On this day I was thankful for old friends. I got to see so many friends that I haven't seen in forever at Wally and Stephanie's wedding.
Sunday, November 7, 2010 - On this day, I was thankful for my nephews. Well technically, only one of them has been born yet. We had Kacey's shower, which was a blast, and I was reminded of how much I love Myers and Harris.
Monday, November 8, 2010 - This day made me thankful for television and other forms of mindless entertainment. After being stressed out at work, it's really nice to be able to sit down and watch a little TV.
Tuesday, November 9, 2010 - Tuesday made me thankful for transportation. I complain a lot about my car, but she always gets me from point A to point B. I take that for granted a lot.
Wednesday, November 10, 2010 - This day I was thankful for my friend Shalotta. I had a rough day, but she kept my spirits up with her wonderful humor.
Thursday, November 11, 2010 - This day I was thankful for all of our veterans, especially my Grandaddy!! It's amazing to me how much these people sacraficed for all of us!!

That's it for my makeup Thankful Thursday... Hope everyone is ready for Thanksgiving!!

Tuesday Thoughts!

Hello everyone! Hope y'all are having a great Tuesday. Here are some thoughts for the day...
1. Wally and Stephanie's wedding was a blast this weekend. The rehearsal dinner was at the MS Sports Hall of Fame and was so much fun. The reception was at the old train depot and was a blast. I got to see so many friends that I haven't seen in a while and got to hang with some friends that live here in Jackson too.

3. Kacey's shower is done, and she got sooooo much cute stuff. Baby Harris is going to be dressed to impress for sure. I will have to post pictures of that later.
4. My office is moving one floor down in our building. This may not sound like a lot of work, but it really is. It's exhausting!!
5. My college friend group is planning our annual Christmas party. I can't wait to get back together with these girls. They really are so special to me!!
This is all most of us at Lindsey's house for last year's party.
This is us shaking our tailfeathers at The Beachwood after the party.

That's it for today!

Thankful Thursdays

My friend Springer is posting every day in November with something that she is thankful for. I think this is an awesome idea. November is, after all, the month of Thanksgiving and my birthday. I'm pretty thankful for both of those. Since I do so many posts already, I won't post every single day about my thanks. I'm just going to wrap up everything into Thankful Thursdays. Here goes...

Monday, November 1, 2010 - The work that I do made me so thankful this day. As we started our conference, I was reminded exactly how important our work is. Victims deserve a voice, and that is what we do.
Tuesday, November 2, 2010 - On this day, I had the opportunity to hear Barbie Bassett share her wonderful story about faith and overcoming obstacles. She did an amazing job telling her story of survival and achievement. I was so inspired listening to her words. One thing that she talked about was letting go of what others think of you and not being a people pleaser. She read some emails that viewers send in to her on a regular basis. These emails critisized everything from her hair to her clothes. This made me so thankful of the support system that I have in my life. I have such wonderful family and friends that always build me up, and I could not be more appreciative!
Wednesday, November 3, 2010 - This is the day that I got to come home to my clean car and sanded night stands. Obviously, this made me thankful to have such a sweet boyfriend. Kind of makes me excited about the rest of my life.
Thursday, November 4, 2010 - Today I am thankful for sweaters. I know this is strange, but I'm extremely cold natured. If it weren't for warm, comfy sweaters, I would freeze all winter.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, and I challenge everyone that has a blog to do a thanks list all of November.

Thursday Thoughts

Hello everyone! I'm so glad to be back in town and back to blogging. I've actually missed it. Instead of making up all of the blogs I missed, I think I'm just going to give some thoughts for Thursday and start fresh next week.

1. I'm back from our conference, and it went so well. It was wonderful to get to plan and participate in such a great event. I even got to be a bruise model for our forensic photography class.
I'm getting my bruise makeup put on here...
This is my almost finished product.

2. I came home to a clean car, inside and out. Justin washed my car and vacuumed the inside. It looks so good, but he did note that he now thinks I'm disgusting. I can't remember the last time I cleaned that thing out. He also sanded two nightstands that we bought before I left, so they're ready to be painted. He's definitely the best, and that's just one of the reasons I love him!!
3. Stephanie and Wally's wedding is this weekend. I am so excited to celebrate with them. I expect that the rehearsal dinner and wedding will be amazing. I can't wait to share some pics next week.
4. I've gotten back into The Apprentice this season. Now that it's not a celebrity season, I'm enjoying getting to know the characters. I really like Brandi and Stuart, but the one I want to talk about is David. This guy is a mess and poison to his team, but that's still not what I want to talk about. What I want to talk about is how much David reminds me of Andy Bernard from The Office. Please at least watch one episode on Hulu. The most recent one really shows it.
5. Kacey's shower is finally this weekend, and I can't wait!! Baby Harris is going to get such cute stuff!!
6. Hope everyone had a happy happy Halloween!!

Breakup

Breakups. They're hard, and who likes them? They're draining and tough, but sometimes necessary. My good friend Kristin once taught me the beauty of the breakup, Well actually, I think I thought her the beauty of the Facebook breakup, and she taught me the beauty of the blog breakup. Unfortunately, I'm at a point in my life where a breakup is sadly necessary.
Here goes...

Dear John Mayer,

We've had many wonderful years together. I've listened to your music and learned your lyrics religiously. We've had good times where I found wisdom in your profound words; and let's be honest, you're pretty nice to look at. We've also had some bad times. I've stood by you when you cheated on me with Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston. I even stood by you when you talked so candidly about Jessica in that magazine. I didn't leave you when you never returned my one million tweets. We made it through all of these hard times, but the time has come for me to draw the line. Taylor Swift? Really? First of all, it kind of seems like you're a pedophile. Second, did you learn nothing from the whole Kanye West debacle. Swifty is America's sweetheart. I'm a little insulted and disgusted to be honest. I've given all I have to give to our relationship, and now it's time we part ways. Remember that I will always secretly love you. I just can't publicly defend you anymore.

All my love,
Jamie

Wee Bit Wednesday

{one} have you ever seen a ghost?
I can't say that I have.

{two} when was the last time you dressed up for halloween?
I think the last time I dressed up had to have been in college for a swap or something.

{three} what’s your favorite candy?
I love to mix candy corn and peanuts in a bowl. It tastes like a PayDay.

{four} did you have a favorite costume growing up?
My mom dressed all three of us up as pumpkins one year for a costume contest. It was pretty funny. It's probably my most vivid memory of Halloween.

{five} did you carve pumpkins this year?
No, but I really wanted to. I guess there's still time.

{six} what’s your favorite scary movie?
I absolutely hate scary movies. I don't like to put myself in situations where I'm consumed by anxiety. That being said, I don't have a favorite, but the most scared I've ever been in a movie is the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

{seven} haunted houses or corn mazes?
I really want to do the corn maze in Canton. I've never done one, but I'd definitely prefer it over a haunted house. I just don't like being scared.

{eight} are you superstitious?
No, but it would be kinda fun if I was.

{nine} have you ever owned a black cat?
Many... We had so many cats growing up. Now they creep me out.

{ten} what are you plans for this coming halloween?
I'm going to be working on the actual day. Lame, I know!

Here are some photos from costumes past...
We were all Super Girls one year. I guess no one wanted to tell me that my stomach was showing ;) (p.s. Thank you Jennifer for the Oak Grove Sophomores T-Shirts)

Our faces are pretty funny in this one.
I don't think this was Halloween. Just a "Thug" swap.

I told Wally that we didn't get any trick or treaters at our house, so he dressed up and came by.
This is me with my cousin, Joel, and my birthday costume party.

Tuesday Thoughts!

Hello and happy Tuesday. Here are my thoughts for today.

1. We have been furniture shopping. It's pretty hard when basically all you have is bedroom furniture. I love antique/distressed stuff, so we've been looking at antique malls and furniture consignment stores. If anyone has any recommendations with affordable items, please let us know. We did buy two tables this weekend (my birthday present) The pictures are below.
This is a coffee table that I absolutely love!
This is a side table that we found. I also love this one so much!! (It's kinda hard to see since there is stuff on top of and all around it.)
2. Justin's parents and mine have been so sweet helping to find furniture/recommend places for us to look. His dad is even looking for some wood for making the table pictured below. We both love it so much, but it's a little pricey.
3. My work is having our annual conference next week. I go to conferences all the time (which is why I travel a lot sometimes), but this is one that we put on. Everyone has been working really hard to make it come together, and I cannot wait to see how it turns out.
4. Kacey's baby shower is less than 2 weeks away. I am so excited to see all the cute gifts! Little Harris cannot get here fast enough.
5. My friend Kristin is back from NYC!! It's been weird not talking to her all the time on the phone over the past week. I can't wait to hear all of her stories and borrow all of her new clothes. :)

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Babysitter's Club

Last night, Justin helped me babysit Myers. I think this may have been his first babysitting experience ever. :) He did mention that he had never changed a diaper before. We had a lot of fun playing with him all night, but we have a problem. While it took Myers a little bit to warm up to Justin, he now likes him better than me. This is an issue!! I don't want him to like anyone better than me. I guess I'll just have get over this one! Here are some pics from the night...
This is the "warm up" period where they got to know each other.
Once Justin shared his hat, they were best friends.
This was taken after he ate and got "fat and sassy."
Helping Myers put on his "aa aa" (monkey) shoes.
We let him bring all of his chairs from the play room in the living room. He wanted Justin to sit in one, him to sit in one and the stuffed animals to take the others.
This is at the end of the night. Notice someone is a little exhausted in the background.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

Wee Bit Wednesday

{one} have you ever crawled through a window?
Yes. I've talked about this on my blog before, but I climbed out of the second story window of my apartment in college to rescue my dog, who was locked in the bathroom. My roommate, Alison, kept me safe by holding my dress the whole way!
{two} what’s one subject that you wish you knew more about?
Math. I'm so awful at math. I don't even know most of the multiplication table. I can write 50 page papers all day long, but please don't give me an elementary math problem. I'm completely dependent on my calculator.
{three} who’s your favorite villain?
I'm going to go with The Joker from The Dark Knight. Heath Ledger did such an amazing job playing him that I just wanted to love him, even though he was the bad guy.
{four} have you ever hit a jackpot on a slot machine?
Unfortunately no, but I'd be one happy girl if I did.
{five} what is your favorite disney movie?
Cinderella, of course. I used to fight with my brother and sister over what Disney tape we were going to watch. They always outnumbered me with Mary Poppins.
{six} if the whole world were listening, what would you say?
That God is good and family is so important.
{seven} if you could choose one song to describe you or your life, what would it be?
Gosh, this one is hard. I'm going to say Let It Be Me by Ray Lamontagne. Everytime I hear this song, it just gives me a calm feeling and reminds me of how happy I am now. It will probably be the first song I dance to at my wedding.
{eight} your desk: messy or organized?
It really depends on what all I have going on at the moment. If I'm super busy, it's usually messy. If I've got a little down time, I always straighten it back up.
{nine} have you ever had surgery?
Yes
{ten} if you could have any animal as a pet, what would you have?
A giraffe. I think they are so interesting and beautiful!

Giveaway...

Everyone head on over to Fashion Under $100 to read about their new mobile site and a new giveaway!!! Gotta love a giveaway!

Tuesday Thoughts

Here are my thoughts for the day...

1. Justin and I are looking for a house to rent. This wasn't quite as easy as we originally thought. We've been calling numbers and driving around looking at houses. While it hasn't been easy, it has been pretty fun and sweet to do together. This will be the first boy I've ever lived with besides my brother, so we'll see. I know we'll be fine, though! I'm actually pretty excited about it.
2. This past weekend, Justin and I went to Adam and Christina Morgan's wedding, and we had a blast. It was outside at the Fairview Inn, and they couldn't have asked for a prettier day. They did such a great job with the setup, decorations and everything. It was absolutely beautiful!! I didn't get a single picture, because my camera battery died. Don't you just hate when that happens. I did steal these shots from my friend, Emilie. Thanks, Emilie!!!
This was taken later on at The Bulldog. Don't ask about the hat.
Another shot with Emilie.
3. My friends Rachel and Cody are having a sweet baby. I love to hear about a good friend having a baby. Who doesn't love a baby shower!! They are going to be great parents, and I'm so excited for them.
4. Can I just mention again how proud I am of the Dawgs!!!

Hope everyone has an amazing Tuesday!

Make Me Love Them Dogs!!!

Wow!! Mississippi State beat Florida in Gainesville! The Bulldogs are 5-2 and ranked 24th!! I could not be more proud!! Just can't wait to beat the stuffing out of those Teddy Bears in Oxford and head to a bowl game!!
I'll just leave you with these words...

Hail dear 'ole State!
Fight for that victory today.
Hit that line and tote that ball,
Cross the goal before you fall!
And then we'll yell, yell, yell, yell!
For dear 'ole State we'll yell like H-E-L-L!
Fight for Mis-sis-sip-pi State,
Win that game today!
GO STATE!!!!!!!!
