Breakup

Breakups. They're hard, and who likes them? They're draining and tough, but sometimes necessary. My good friend Kristin once taught me the beauty of the breakup, Well actually, I think I thought her the beauty of the Facebook breakup, and she taught me the beauty of the blog breakup. Unfortunately, I'm at a point in my life where a breakup is sadly necessary.
Here goes...

Dear John Mayer,

We've had many wonderful years together. I've listened to your music and learned your lyrics religiously. We've had good times where I found wisdom in your profound words; and let's be honest, you're pretty nice to look at. We've also had some bad times. I've stood by you when you cheated on me with Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston. I even stood by you when you talked so candidly about Jessica in that magazine. I didn't leave you when you never returned my one million tweets. We made it through all of these hard times, but the time has come for me to draw the line. Taylor Swift? Really? First of all, it kind of seems like you're a pedophile. Second, did you learn nothing from the whole Kanye West debacle. Swifty is America's sweetheart. I'm a little insulted and disgusted to be honest. I've given all I have to give to our relationship, and now it's time we part ways. Remember that I will always secretly love you. I just can't publicly defend you anymore.

All my love,
Jamie

Wee Bit Wednesday

{one} have you ever seen a ghost?
I can't say that I have.

{two} when was the last time you dressed up for halloween?
I think the last time I dressed up had to have been in college for a swap or something.

{three} what’s your favorite candy?
I love to mix candy corn and peanuts in a bowl. It tastes like a PayDay.

{four} did you have a favorite costume growing up?
My mom dressed all three of us up as pumpkins one year for a costume contest. It was pretty funny. It's probably my most vivid memory of Halloween.

{five} did you carve pumpkins this year?
No, but I really wanted to. I guess there's still time.

{six} what’s your favorite scary movie?
I absolutely hate scary movies. I don't like to put myself in situations where I'm consumed by anxiety. That being said, I don't have a favorite, but the most scared I've ever been in a movie is the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

{seven} haunted houses or corn mazes?
I really want to do the corn maze in Canton. I've never done one, but I'd definitely prefer it over a haunted house. I just don't like being scared.

{eight} are you superstitious?
No, but it would be kinda fun if I was.

{nine} have you ever owned a black cat?
Many... We had so many cats growing up. Now they creep me out.

{ten} what are you plans for this coming halloween?
I'm going to be working on the actual day. Lame, I know!

Here are some photos from costumes past...
We were all Super Girls one year. I guess no one wanted to tell me that my stomach was showing ;) (p.s. Thank you Jennifer for the Oak Grove Sophomores T-Shirts)

Our faces are pretty funny in this one.
I don't think this was Halloween. Just a "Thug" swap.

I told Wally that we didn't get any trick or treaters at our house, so he dressed up and came by.
This is me with my cousin, Joel, and my birthday costume party.

Tuesday Thoughts!

Hello and happy Tuesday. Here are my thoughts for today.

1. We have been furniture shopping. It's pretty hard when basically all you have is bedroom furniture. I love antique/distressed stuff, so we've been looking at antique malls and furniture consignment stores. If anyone has any recommendations with affordable items, please let us know. We did buy two tables this weekend (my birthday present) The pictures are below.
This is a coffee table that I absolutely love!
This is a side table that we found. I also love this one so much!! (It's kinda hard to see since there is stuff on top of and all around it.)
2. Justin's parents and mine have been so sweet helping to find furniture/recommend places for us to look. His dad is even looking for some wood for making the table pictured below. We both love it so much, but it's a little pricey.
3. My work is having our annual conference next week. I go to conferences all the time (which is why I travel a lot sometimes), but this is one that we put on. Everyone has been working really hard to make it come together, and I cannot wait to see how it turns out.
4. Kacey's baby shower is less than 2 weeks away. I am so excited to see all the cute gifts! Little Harris cannot get here fast enough.
5. My friend Kristin is back from NYC!! It's been weird not talking to her all the time on the phone over the past week. I can't wait to hear all of her stories and borrow all of her new clothes. :)

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Babysitter's Club

Last night, Justin helped me babysit Myers. I think this may have been his first babysitting experience ever. :) He did mention that he had never changed a diaper before. We had a lot of fun playing with him all night, but we have a problem. While it took Myers a little bit to warm up to Justin, he now likes him better than me. This is an issue!! I don't want him to like anyone better than me. I guess I'll just have get over this one! Here are some pics from the night...
This is the "warm up" period where they got to know each other.
Once Justin shared his hat, they were best friends.
This was taken after he ate and got "fat and sassy."
Helping Myers put on his "aa aa" (monkey) shoes.
We let him bring all of his chairs from the play room in the living room. He wanted Justin to sit in one, him to sit in one and the stuffed animals to take the others.
This is at the end of the night. Notice someone is a little exhausted in the background.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

Wee Bit Wednesday

{one} have you ever crawled through a window?
Yes. I've talked about this on my blog before, but I climbed out of the second story window of my apartment in college to rescue my dog, who was locked in the bathroom. My roommate, Alison, kept me safe by holding my dress the whole way!
{two} what’s one subject that you wish you knew more about?
Math. I'm so awful at math. I don't even know most of the multiplication table. I can write 50 page papers all day long, but please don't give me an elementary math problem. I'm completely dependent on my calculator.
{three} who’s your favorite villain?
I'm going to go with The Joker from The Dark Knight. Heath Ledger did such an amazing job playing him that I just wanted to love him, even though he was the bad guy.
{four} have you ever hit a jackpot on a slot machine?
Unfortunately no, but I'd be one happy girl if I did.
{five} what is your favorite disney movie?
Cinderella, of course. I used to fight with my brother and sister over what Disney tape we were going to watch. They always outnumbered me with Mary Poppins.
{six} if the whole world were listening, what would you say?
That God is good and family is so important.
{seven} if you could choose one song to describe you or your life, what would it be?
Gosh, this one is hard. I'm going to say Let It Be Me by Ray Lamontagne. Everytime I hear this song, it just gives me a calm feeling and reminds me of how happy I am now. It will probably be the first song I dance to at my wedding.
{eight} your desk: messy or organized?
It really depends on what all I have going on at the moment. If I'm super busy, it's usually messy. If I've got a little down time, I always straighten it back up.
{nine} have you ever had surgery?
Yes
{ten} if you could have any animal as a pet, what would you have?
A giraffe. I think they are so interesting and beautiful!

Giveaway...

Everyone head on over to Fashion Under $100 to read about their new mobile site and a new giveaway!!! Gotta love a giveaway!

Tuesday Thoughts

Here are my thoughts for the day...

1. Justin and I are looking for a house to rent. This wasn't quite as easy as we originally thought. We've been calling numbers and driving around looking at houses. While it hasn't been easy, it has been pretty fun and sweet to do together. This will be the first boy I've ever lived with besides my brother, so we'll see. I know we'll be fine, though! I'm actually pretty excited about it.
2. This past weekend, Justin and I went to Adam and Christina Morgan's wedding, and we had a blast. It was outside at the Fairview Inn, and they couldn't have asked for a prettier day. They did such a great job with the setup, decorations and everything. It was absolutely beautiful!! I didn't get a single picture, because my camera battery died. Don't you just hate when that happens. I did steal these shots from my friend, Emilie. Thanks, Emilie!!!
This was taken later on at The Bulldog. Don't ask about the hat.
Another shot with Emilie.
3. My friends Rachel and Cody are having a sweet baby. I love to hear about a good friend having a baby. Who doesn't love a baby shower!! They are going to be great parents, and I'm so excited for them.
4. Can I just mention again how proud I am of the Dawgs!!!

Hope everyone has an amazing Tuesday!

Make Me Love Them Dogs!!!

Wow!! Mississippi State beat Florida in Gainesville! The Bulldogs are 5-2 and ranked 24th!! I could not be more proud!! Just can't wait to beat the stuffing out of those Teddy Bears in Oxford and head to a bowl game!!
I'll just leave you with these words...

Hail dear 'ole State!
Fight for that victory today.
Hit that line and tote that ball,
Cross the goal before you fall!
And then we'll yell, yell, yell, yell!
For dear 'ole State we'll yell like H-E-L-L!
Fight for Mis-sis-sip-pi State,
Win that game today!
GO STATE!!!!!!!!

Fashion I Want Now & Sale of the Week

Hello fellow fashion lovers. As the weather here in Mississippi bounces around from hot to cold, I'm inspired to start thinking of ways to work around it. The only way to do this is with layers. I'm loving the faux fur that everyone is breaking out this year. This week I'm pulling out a layered look with what else? Faux Fur! Here we go!
We'll start with this fabu faux fur vest from Piperlime for $88.00.
I love the thought of something dressy like fur with a plain white T. I love plain white T's in any form or fashion.  This one is from Old Navy for only 10 bucks!
Add these plain black skinny jeans, also from Old Navy for only $13.47 to almost complete the look.

This week's sale of the week is what will pull this look all the way together.
These gray slouch ankle boots from Piperlime for $79.00 $59.50 are just what this outfit ordered.

Hope all of you are having a wonderful week!!
Jamie

Wee Bit Wednesday

{one} have you ever milked a cow or a goat?
Eww, no! I can't stand the smell of milk. That would be so gross.

{two} what sound does your alarm make when it goes off in the morning?
Right now it plays This Year's Love by David Gray, but for the longest time it was A Little Help From My Friends by Joe Cocker. Justin vetoed that one real quick.

{three} chocolate milk or hot chocolate?
Hot Chocolate for sure! I've never like chocolate milk. I was always that kid in the lunch line who got the white milk.

{four} what is one of the quirkiest things about you?
I really love pickles with ranch dressing. It's one of my favorite things.

{five} are you more like your mom or your dad?
Well, I look like my mom's side of the family, but act more like my dad's side.

{six} do you sleep with the tv on?
Off... I love pitch black darkness and complete silence.

{seven} if you were a crayon, what color would you be?
I'd probably be some shade of red. Red's not my favorite color, but it's loud and so am I.

{eight} ross, joey, or chandler?
Definitely Chandler... I love a funny/sarcastic guy.
{nine} do you play any musical instruments?
No and I really wish that I did. My brother taught himself to play guitar and piano. I'm so jealous.

{ten} what’s the worst thing you’ve ever cooked/baked?
Once I made some canned asparagus that was disgusting. I put all this different stuff on it trying to make it better, but it just got worse. Justin tried to pretend he liked it to spare my feelings, but that only lasted about two bites. He had to spit out the last bite. Just thinking about that taste makes me a little sick!

**Side note: I still want to know where every one's at... Today I checked and had a reader in the UK!! I want to know who these far away readers are! Reveal yourself!!

Tuesday Thoughts & Where Ya At??

Here's some thoughts on this lovely Tuesday...
1. I heard a wonderful sermon at Broadmore in Madison this past Sunday. One thing that really stood out was the quote, "There's two things I'm sure of. I am a great sinner, but Christ is a great Savior." That really got me thinking about what an amazing God we serve. Hope it gets you thinking too.
2. I'm always looking for a little caffeine in my life. Well lately that has come in the form of Diet Mountain Dew. Those puppies are addictive!!! If you need a boost, they are almost more of a jolt than a Red Bull or Five Hour Energy!!
3. Patience... If anyone knows where I can get some that, please give me a shout!! I am realizing day by day that I really don't have a lot of patience. Don't worry. I'm working on this!! Hopefully by the time I die, I'll have a little.
4. Where ya at? I've got this new little ditty called a Site Meter on my blog. This thing is so freakin cool. It tells you how many hits you have, plus predicts how many you will have soon. Click on the little icon at the bottom of my blog to see mine. One other thing that it does is tells you the location of your readers. Don't worry, it doesn't pin point your exact location. That would be creepy. it just gives a city and state. I was very surprised to see places like Itasca, IL; Pictou, Nova Scotia (That's Canada!!); Winchester, NY; Pine Lake, GA; Brooklyn, NY and Lake Mary, FL!!! Wow!! That's absolutely amazing! So my question is this... Who are all you fabulous readers from afar?? Please please leave me a comment with your name and location!! This might just make my week.

That's all my thoughts for today... I can't wait to hear where you all are!!
We've all wondered where Carmen is and now I want to know where you are!!

Fashion I Want Now & Sale of the Week

I know this post is a little late, but sometimes I get a little bitsy busy. I apologize for that. Lately I've been really interested in the returning trend of cutout dresses. My first thought was, "This is plain out trashy." I imagined something I would have worn back in high school. Well, I actually think they've put kind of a classier spin on it this time. (I may regret this statement later.) Here's some hollywood inspiration...
Zoe Saldana

The always stylish Blake Lively in character as Serena VanDerWoodsen.

Now obviously I can't afford any of these looks, but I can find comparable, more affordable ones. So here's the fashion I want now...
This cutesy from Topshop is $135.00. I know that's still a little expensive, so I come bearing a more affordable option.
This little ditty from Asos is only $64.00.

This week's Sale of the Week is this Laundry by Shelli Segal Knot-Sleeve cutout dress for $225 $67.50.

Hope you are all having a wonderful week. See you tomorrow for some thoughts!

I'm a Winner!!!!!

First, I want to tell you about a blog that I stalk pretty religiously...
This is the mom of one of my sister's friends, Jordan. I also stalk Jordan's blog, but that's another story for another day. You should probably check hers out though if you want to see two of the cutest kids ever. I digress. Back Kendall Boggs. Let me tell you, this is one talented woman! She's an artist, designer, cook; among many other things. I love to check out her blog for all of her "do it yourself" projects and recipes. She's also so funny. I love reading all of her stories. Even if you do not know her (which I don't, but kinda feel like I do from reading), you should check it out. She has a way of writing that really invites you into her life. I find myself reading her posts and trying to emulate this warm story-telling style that she has. It's really one of a kind. Anywho, she occasionally hosts contests giving away her artwork or other amazing things that she makes. My sister won one of her beautiful paintings last year, and I've been super jealous ever since. Well, the other day I entered to win this fabulous Rag Top Necklace; and guess what, I WON!!! I am super excited and can't wait to get it in the mail. Please follow her blog, if you want to be exposed to her fabulousness. Head on over to her blog to see some pics of my new necklace, courtesy of Ms. Boggs. Don't be jealous!!

Wee Bit Wednesday

{one} what is your biggest pet peeve?
Bad Grammar

{two} what is your favorite dessert?
I'm going to go with Banana Pudding!!

{three} what is the first thing you notice about people?
Body Language

{four} are you usually late, early or right on time?
I'm usually either early or right on time. Of course, there's the occasion where I'm late, but I'm usually at least ten minutes early. I think I got that from my Dad.

{five} have you ever fired a gun?
Yes, and I actually shot one Monday night at deer camp with Justin. We shot cans with a 22. That sounds so redneck, but it happened.

{six} are you right-handed or left-handed?
Right

{seven} which do you prefer: coke or pepsi?
If you had asked me this a couple of years ago, I would have told you coke, but recently I've started liking Pepsi much better. Either way, it must be diet!!

{eight} do you dance crazy when no one is looking?
I usually dance crazy either way, but that's mostly because I have to rhythm. I am a lot more likely to dance when no one is around, though.

{nine} what’s your favorite movie snack?
Diet Coke (or Pepsi if I'm so lucky) and Milk Duds
Popcorn smells bad.

{ten} do you scream on roller coasters?
I honestly can't remember the last time I was on a roller coaster... That's sad! Knowing me, I probably wouldn't scream, though. When in situations where I'm really scared, I'm usually completely silent.

Tuesday Thoughts

Happy Tuesday, y'all!! Here's what I'm thinking about today.

1. Tom Brady has gotten a mullet. Now this is one sexy man, but last night's MNF game that pitted the Patriots against the Dolphins was hard for me to watch. This is not because it was a bad football game; just that Tom Brady has grown a mullet. Look, when you're wife is Gisele, you might want to step it up and stay groomed. I'm just saying. In case you're reading my blog, Tom (which, why wouldn't you be??), I'm providing a picture of the way I prefer you to look. Thanks, sweetie!!
2. Today is Jennifer "Ducky" Farris's birthday. We'll just say that she's been 21 for a couple of years. A bunch of us are having dinner at Burger's and Blues on Thursday night to celebrate. I can't wait!
3. The fair is in town. Now, I don't really LOVE the fair, but I'll tell you what I do love. I love to watch the skankiness that it seems to always bring out. There'll be someone in overalls gnawing on a turkey leg. There'll be a couple with their hands in each other's back pockets. There might even be a girl fight. I'm looking forward to playing "Carnie or Patron?" In this game, you simply find fair-goers that could easily be mistaken for carnies. Give it a whirl. I promise you'll enjoy it.
4. I'm going to leave you with a link to this video that my friend Lindsey told me to look up on YouTube. I can't embed it, because it's copywrited by Ellen. This is hilarious!!!

Hope everyone has a great day. Talk to y'all tomorrow!!
Jamie
