Wednesday Wish List

My bloggie friend, Callie, is doing this for a little bit on Wednesdays, so I thought I’d join in the fun. (Side note: I steal a lot of ideas from her blog. She should sue me for plagiarism) This seems like such a fun way to release a little inner “want.” So, here are a few things on my mental wish list right now. This week’s theme is, of course, items for the home.

1. A cute end table to go by my couch. I’m talking the perfect end table for my couch (that also doesn’t cost that much). I’ve been looking for this perfect table for a while. I need to hit the flea market back up, I guess. Here are some pics of things that are the idea of what I’m looking for.
2. Some McCarty serving pieces. I know this stuff will come when I get married, but I just want it now. My sweet friend, Katie, brought me a small bowl as a housewarming gift, and it just made me want more!!

3. Next on my wish list is a really great lamp for my living room. I'm thinking something along these lines.
4. A fresh new coat of paint for my kitchen. A pretty neutral gray will do just fine.
5. A window box with flowers for my kitchen window. Justin keeps telling me it’s too much shade, so I’ve come up with this compromise for our back porch.

I'm hoping some of my other blog friends will pick this one up too. Who knows, someone looking to get you a gift could be a reader. Happy Wednesday everyone!!!

Wee Bit Wednesday

{one} scruffy or clean shaven?
Personally, I don't have a beard. JK. Ummm, have you seen Justin? I'm going to go with scruffy.

{two} what’s your favorite sundae topping?
Hot fudge

{three} do you own slippers?
No, but I need some. I guess my socks will have to do for now.

{four} did you ever have a tree house?
No, but we had a tree that we always climbed.

{five} how you do relieve stress?
Probably a good cry or lately, cleaning.

{six} what’s your favorite dr. seuss book?
Oh The Places That You'll Go

{seven} have you ever taken dance classes?
Yeah, but I was terrible and always on the back row. I'm pretty sure you could guess that if you saw my moves today.

{eight} which do you use more: the thesaurus or the dictionary?
I use the thesaurus a lot when I write, but I use the dictionary on my kindle a lot when I read.

{nine} what’s your favorite form of exercise?
I'd have to go with running or abs class, neither of which I do enough of these days.

{ten} what’s the longest you’ve ever waited in line?
I waited on the phone line with Comcast for an hour and a half the other day.

Dinner Time

Thought I would share another one of my favorite recipes. This takes a little time in the oven, but is very easy to prepare. It’s also one of my favorites. The chicken will practically fall off of the bone and the mushrooms are delicious. If you’re not a mushroom person, throw in some asparagus or potatoes. There really aren’t any rules to this one (except that you have to cook the chicken all the way through).

Baked Mushroom Chicken
{Again, this is not my cooking, but it looks a lot like it.}

Ingredients:
Various chicken pieces (I use a whole chicken cut up)
1 medium onion sliced
1 package baby portabella mushrooms
1 can cream of mushroom soup
Season salt
Garlic salt
Lemon pepper
Cooking Instructions:
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Season chicken with all three spices on both sides and place in baking dish with onions and mushrooms. Pour cream of mushroom soup over top and spread. Cover dish with foil and bake for 1 hour. Uncover and cook about 15-20 more minutes or until chicken is done.

Tuesday Thoughts

Happy Tuesday Everyone!! Here's a few thoughts from me today.

1. The St. Patrick's Day Parade is coming up, and I can't wait to have a good time. Let's just hope it's not raining. I'm going to start my day off with a much needed highlight and cut for my weave then hit up the PARADE! Here's some pics from last year to get you in the spirit.

2. We celebrated 2 birthdays recently, my mom and Justin's dad. For my mom's b-day, we went over to their house for some cake and ice cream. For a gift, we gave her some partridges for her house. See pic below. For Justin's dad's birthday, we had the whole dean family over for dinner and gave him the book, Wild Abundance and a turkey decoy. I can't take credit for this book idea, because I got it from Callie Collins and her awesome blog. This book is so cool. It's got stories and recipes from the South's finest deer camps.

{great gift for a hunter}
3. The home decorating is coming along slowly but surely. Here's some pics of a few new things we've added.
{We got some partridges for ourselves. I We just loved them so much.}
{We did a little shelf organizing. It still needs a lot of work, but it's getting better.}
{new lemon and pear centerpiece for the dining table}
{new pic for the dining area}
4. We made it out a couple of weekends ago for our second time to Hal n Mal's birthday party.
{pic of us from last year's party... geesh, talk about a slick rick hairdo}

I think that's about all I have for today... Hope you are all having a wonderful Tuesday afternoon!!
